The third and final album of lo-fi songs of ordinary life by Rooney (Paul Rooney), which expands the vocal harmonies of previous album 'On Fading Out' into expansive close harmony vocal arrangements (and in the case of opening track 'Call Waiting', full-on choral mode). The signature lo-fi Rooney sound is still there, but in many of these songs, such as 'Used Up' and 'Into a Mike', there is a new melodic richness and inventive subtlety of arrangement.

The song lyrics focus on the mundanities of various jobs and occupations, such as cinema projectionist, call centre worker, car park attendant and gallery attendant (even DIY album creator). Rooney garnered much support from BBC Radio 1's John Peel amongst others (leading to a 1998 Festive Fifty appearance, for the song 'Went to Town', and a 1999 Peel session).
